BBC is sold by a television centre and abbreviates thousands of employees

Television and radio corporation BBC, to cover a budgetary deficit in 2 milliards of pound (3,670 milliards of dollars) sterlings, plans to 2013 years to sell the famous televisional centre which already more than 40 years is its character.

It was officially declared by the director general of corporation Mark Thompson.

A television centre was built in 1960. His facade could be seen in the background in many journalistic reporting, therefore very well went down in memory an audience, and a report about intention to sell famous brown building shocked many workers of BBC.

In addition, Thompson named the final numbers of reductions of employees of corporation on Thursday. According to him, during next six years will be discharged 2,5 thousand workers. However due to creation 700 new positions, majority from which will be occupied by getting under reduction employees, are discharged will be only 1,8 thousand persons.

Mainly reductions will touch the employees of the news programs and regional representative offices of VVS. Thompson underlined at the same time, that the "news department of BBC would remain basis of organization". The "stake of news in the general volume of the programs will be increased, but not to go" down, – he notarized.

A general manager added that to 2013 it is planned on 10% to shorten the production of the original TV programs. Greater attention will be spared entertaining shows.

National union of journalists of Great Britain and trade union of workers of radio and television, sphere of entertainments, cinema and theatre, the members of which are many employees of BBC, declared already, that will come to guidance of corporation with a requirement to conduct negotiations in the light of "wild" reductions.

According to the representatives of trade unions, they require to stop started the official statement of Thompson process ante meridiem Fridays. "If BBC will not be revised by the decision, strikes will be inevitable", – the secretary general of the National union of journalists of Great Britain of Dzheremi Dia underlined.

That for the sake of reduction of losses going BBC to discharge a few hundred persons, it was known last week. Then the director general of corporation reported that a decision is related to the losses from insufficient growth of subscriber pay which a corporation is due to. According to him, it does not even compensate losses from growth of inflation.

The day before advice of managing BBC (BBC of Trust) unanimously approved plans on development of corporation on the nearest six years, that means the official start of realization of plan of Thompson.

Thus, the situation of 2005 can repeat oneself, when managing VVS declared reduction of 3 thousands 780 persons, that resulted in strikes in which about 11 thousands took part from the 27 thousand employees of corporation.
